Where in the hell was that annoying little demon?
Callum explored the dense forest in slowly expanding circles. But so far, his search pattern had been fruitless. Either the succubus was getting better at leaving no trace, or the old wizard was getting worse at tracking. He shook his head in frustration. Perhaps it was a little of both.
Eventually, he came across the well-traveled trail he knew ended up at the nearby village. The outdoorsy ones often came this way to camp in the forest or fish in a small lake a few miles away. He suspected she might have risked this path to find a man for her salacious need to feed so frequently. After what she had experienced before, it would be dangerous to return there. But he knew how reckless she became when her hunger increased.
About an hour later, he stood at the edge of the forest and looked down on the town below. Sighing, he gazed upon the ugly sprawl. With each passing year, the cookie-cutter homes crept closer and closer. Meadows had disappeared under cold, gray concrete. Bulldozers belching black smoke had devoured old-growth forests. The inevitable march of their civilized progress threatened the old world he had enjoyed for centuries.
He sighed with sadness, and his weary shoulders dropped. He had no desire to venture farther, but he needed an answer. Had she come this way or not? Reluctantly, he decided it was time to pay the price and find out.
Reaching into his robe, he brought out a tiny bottle. Vianelle didn’t know, but he had been collecting something from her for weeks. Between the succubus and Jessica, his small cabin was swimming in female hair. They shed everywhere! Finally, that annoyance would come in handy.
Carefully, the wizard extracted a single strand and wound it around one fingertip slowly. Bringing it to his lips, he whispered an incantation and drew the seeking symbols with his other hand in the air between him and the village. He felt a soft tug inside his chest as precious magical energy flowed down his outstretched arms.
Suddenly, the hair blazed with an incandescent glow, then dimmed to a subtle pulsing red. He pivoted and pointed his finger toward the far horizon beyond the buildings below.
No, she wasn’t in the village. His hunch was wrong. She had not come this way at all.
Turning back to the forest, the coiled dark hair pulsed with a bright blue glow and renewed intensity. As he slowed his movements to dial the spell in with more precision, it blazed more. Ah, there she was. If he wasn’t mistaken, he now knew exactly where she had gone.
Shit…
He shook his head and unwound the hair to slide it back into the bottle. That damn demon… She had better not have harmed her. The dryad was an innocent soul who didn’t deserve to be caught up in this jealous drama.
It was almost noon by the time he reached the small meadow surrounded by old-growth apple trees. The most luscious one stood on the far side, its curvy branches reaching out, hanging heavy with ripe red fruit. He knew it well, and he also knew she would be there. She was always there because she could be nowhere else.
Callum reached the tree and looked up into the thick boughs above. “I know you’re there. And I know you know I am here.”
A pouting green face peeked through the leaves. She stuck her tongue out at him. “So what if I do?”
He sighed. “Can you come down here and talk with me?”
“Why? Why should I bother? You rarely visit me anymore. I don’t think I owe you any more favors.”
He shook his head. “I’m not asking for a favor. I just want to talk.”
She frowned. “Of course you aren’t. You have her now. She gives you all the special favors you need, doesn’t she? I know things.”
The wizard squinted up at her. “You know what things? Who in the hell are you talking about?”
“Her. Them. Both of them, I guess. The witch and the demon. How nice that you have choices, unlike me.”
More drama. There was always more drama. He attracted it like bees are drawn to a field of wildflowers. Or the soft blossoms of an apple tree, for that matter.
“I didn’t ask for this situation, as you are well aware. You know how this came to be. What would you have me do? Move my cabin here so we could spend more time together?”
The dryad slid down the trunk and landed on the soft grass in front of him with a beaming smile on her pretty face. “Why not? You could do that, you know. I would make you so happy. You know that is true. I am better than those two dark ones.”
With a rueful smile, Callum answered her, “You know why I can’t. Way too many humans pass through your meadow. Hell, they even climb your branches and eat your apples! I can’t be anywhere near them.”
Chrysophelia gave him a sly smile. “That is true. Many strong young men come this way. Maybe I should ask one of them to stay with me? Oh, wait. They are too busy being pursued by your new demon girlfriend.”
He peered into her green eyes. “Ah, so she was here. What do you mean by that? Is she in danger? You know how men can be.”
The dryad looked away, then suddenly became engrossed with her fingernails. She examined and stroked them. “Yeah, I know. But he seemed kind. And I think she really, really liked him. They might even be married by now. Sooo… yeah. I think she’s over you.”
The wizard snorted. “Over me? I wish. I dream of that one returning to her world, so I could go back to a life of peace and quiet without so many demanding females in my life.” He glanced at the handful of trails leaving the meadow. “Which path did they take?”
She pursed her lips and appeared to think about her answer for a few seconds. “I know where they went. But my answer comes with a price.”
The old man rolled his eyes. “Of course it does. Name it, then.”
The pretty dryad looked up into the blue sky and thought for a moment, then met his gaze. “I already knew you wouldn’t move here. Of course, you would not choose me. Right? But I am hungry for the touch of a man. It has been so long. Please me, and I may give you the answer you seek.”
He sighed. How much more time would be lost with these silly games? But it was too soon to evoke the seeking spell again. Fine. He would play along. There were worse ways to get the answer he needed.
“Okay, fine. What do you want?”
The dryad grinned and bounced up and down. “All of it. All of you. I never know when you will be back, so make it good, wizard. Make it very good, so I will have memories for years!”
Despite his annoyance, he felt himself stirring. Chrysophelia was beautiful and curvy in all the most delightful ways. They had a history, and he had his own memories of their times in this lush meadow under the summer stars. The evening breeze would caress their fevered skin, making the nearby wildflowers dance as the wind bathed them in the fragrant scent of the tiny apple blossoms overhead. In a different time—a different life—he would have happily spent the rest of his life here with her.
She slumbered during the long winter months, so he only came to visit when he knew she was awake and able to spend time with him. Their moments together during those sweet, warm evenings were a pleasure that few men had ever experienced. However, with the press of stifling civilization, these encounters became increasingly rare. One day, they would disappear entirely. What a sad and sterile world this was becoming…
Smiling gently, he reached for her and stroked her soft, fuzzy cheek. She leaned into him and twisted to kiss his palm with her hot, wet mouth. His cock pulsed with a surge of heat and rose into the air between them. Reaching down, she felt him growing hard and began stroking his thickness through his robe.
“I knew you still wanted me.”
He laughed. “Of course I do. I always desire you. If things were different…”
She placed a soft finger on his lips. “Shhh… I know. They are what they are. Let’s have this moment. Who knows what our future holds?”
Reaching up, she placed her small hand behind his neck and pulled him down to kiss her. Hungrily, his lips found hers. She tasted like the essence of ripe apples—sweet, with a tart bite. Her mouth was always a delicious fruit he wished he could have forever. Their kisses lingered as his large hands traced a path from her long, green hair, down her back, and across her swelling ass. He squeezed her luscious curves and gave her a couple of light spanks that made her ass jiggle.
“I think you’re even curvier than the last time I was here.”
She chuckled. “Of course I am, you silly human. The fall harvest is soon upon us. My apples are swelling with ripe juices, and so am I. Feast upon me, and enjoy my bounty.”
Callum placed his hands on her slim shoulders and helped her lower to the soft moss and grasses underneath her tree. He kissed her again, then moved his mouth to her silky neck. Tasting her skin and biting her gently, she moaned and arched her back to press her warm body into him. His hot tongue trailed lower and moved between her small, firm breasts. The dark green nipples hardened and thrust into the cool air in the shade of her apple tree. His mouth closed over them, sucking hard and biting them gently. She gasped and pulled his head against her with urgent hunger.
He knew how much she always loved this. As he continued to explore her breasts with his mouth, his warm hand slid down her taut stomach and between her exquisite thighs. She was already slick with need, so his fingers glided easily between her soft lips and found her hot entrance.
Sliding a finger inside her, he suckled her nipples and began teasing her in the ways he knew she craved. Circling her swollen clit, sliding between her slippery folds, and carefully pressing deeper inside her wet heat. Over and over again…
Moaning, she threw her head back and pressed into his hand. “More… I want all of you. Make me remember…”
The wizard let her hard nipple slide out of his mouth as he began kissing his way between her round breasts, down her body, and closer to her wet heat. With the tip of his tongue, he teased her—tracing the edge of her lips, circling her firm clit, and sliding into her pussy. Gasping, the dryad pulled his head against her treasure. Her legs wrapped around him and held him tight with surprising strength. In moments like this, Callum was reminded that he was not making love to a normal woman. With a twinge of shame, he realized this turned him on even more.
His thick cock pulsed with need as he licked her harder, sucking her clit between his lips and feeling it throb in his mouth. Slowly, he eased another finger inside her slick pussy and began thrusting as he teased her clit with his tongue. She squirmed and twisted, yet pulled him against her even harder.
He knew she was close…
With a soft cry and a thrust of her round hips, Chrysophelia exploded in a shaking orgasm. He felt her pussy squeeze and release his finger, over and over again, but he continued. She needed more. Always more. Now it was his turn to hold her against his hungry mouth as she twisted and tried to escape. He continued to lick and suck until she screamed with the eruption of a second orgasm, much larger than the first. Then, her slim green body collapsed underneath him, her stomach heaving as she panted to recover and pushed his head away.
“That’s my girl.”
The wizard smiled as he looked down upon her angelic face, which was flushed an even deeper green. Her luscious form slowly arched and twisted, inviting his touch again. Rising to his knees, he traced her with the warm fingertips of one hand as he lifted his thick, throbbing cock and teased her wet entrance with the swollen head. Circling, pressing a little into her, and pulling back out.
“Stop that, you tease! I want all of you. Make love to me now!”
Easing between her legs, he slowly pushed his hard cock into her a few inches, back out again, and then deeper. He took his time to enjoy the exquisite feeling of her slippery heat as she accepted more of him. Finally, he thrust and buried himself completely. She wrapped her legs around his waist and held him there.
She looked deep into his eyes and whispered, “What would happen if you gave me a baby? Would you stay then?”
“You know I would. But you also know that can never happen, no matter how much you and I might dream of it.” A tiny, sad smile twisted the corner of his mouth.
She knew, but it was a little game she enjoyed—dreaming of carrying his child and being a normal woman with an ordinary life. Unfortunately, that would never happen. Her “children” grew upon her branches every year. Few ventured far enough away to grow into full trees, but it happened occasionally. Their connection was strong, but she knew it was not the same as carrying and raising a human child.
The thought of her creating life from his seed excited him in ways he didn’t fully understand. He began thrusting vigorously into her, his thick cock swelling and filling her completely. She nestled into his neck and bit him as he fucked her harder and deeper. Both were hungry with this need for connection—any connection—that would let them forget their other lives and exist in this moment together.
Callum felt a rippling, twisting, electric tingle building at the base of his spine. He could no longer hold back what was coming. The shivering sensation danced up his back and made the hair on his arms stand up with the intensity of its erotic charge. With a growl, he allowed himself to release. A sparking surge exploded from his cock as he pumped his hot cum deep inside her inhuman womb. He continued thrusting as the orgasm pulsed and his essence filled her. She felt the liquid heat and panted with a satisfied smile on her green face.
“Mmm, that’s my man. Give it all to me. Make me yours!”
Within a few seconds, the throbbing slowed and stopped, but he remained inside her. He leaned down, kissed her, and nestled against her neck. Her scent was warm, sweet, and exquisite.
Grunting, she laughed. “Okay, you massive human. I can’t hold you on top of me for very long!”
Sliding out, he dropped onto the soft moss next to her and reached for her hand. The sun was dropping lower in the sky, with dancing beams scattering through the thick branches above. The sunset would arrive soon.
He sighed. “Well, I guess you knew I wouldn’t want to explore the forest at night, didn’t you?”
She acted shocked. “Me? How would I know that? You are a big, brave, and powerful wizard! No one would dare to come close to you, even in the darkness.”
“Ha ha. Aren’t you the funniest dryad who ever lived? Some would indeed dare. They would suffer the consequences, of course. But I’m sure they could hurt me before I destroyed them. Would that make you happy? To see me hurt?”
Her small mouth turned down in a frown. “You know I would never want anyone to hurt you. I just want you to stay with me; that is all. This season will be over soon, and I will disappear under the cold snow for so very long. Another night under the stars with you is all I wanted.”
He lifted himself onto his side and traced her soft face. “I know, and I understand. I’m sure she is okay. She’s probably quite busy tonight, which is fine with me. Maybe I will be free of her.”
“You won’t be. I am sorry, but I can tell when someone is bonded to you. I should know. But yes, I think she will be safe tonight. Search for her again tomorrow.”
The wizard fell back next to her and looked up at the stars. She was right. He could renew his hunt tomorrow, when it was safer and easier to track her. There was no need to press forward into potential danger tonight.
He wished it could be different. He dreamed of a normal life with someone like the dryad. But that wasn’t the path he had chosen centuries ago. Whether he wanted it or not, he was involved in this ancient conflict. One way or another, it would come to an end. One outcome might find him back in this meadow forever. Another might find him in the cold ground all too soon.
Only time would tell…
